Monet, Monet, Monet

Some jobs are fun to do – and some are REALLY fun to do. One minute you’re contemplating the aphids on your roses and suddenly you get a phonecall from The Sunday Telegraph and are in a taxi at 6.15am on the way to Eurostar.  The occasion? James Priest has just taken over the head gardener job at Giverny, Monet’s garden outside Paris, and he’s British. Zut alors! Read my interview with him in The Sunday Telegraph here…

  1. Oh I do envy you! I last visited Paris three years ago and vow to rerutn each year – maybe I’ll go back this year! There are so many wonderful cafes and restaurants but one that I really enjoyed visiting was La Fourmi Ailee on the rue de Fourarre, 5e. It’s a former feminist bookshop with a high muralled ceiling, books lining the walls and soft jazz playing. The food wasn’t spectacular but perfectly fine; it’s more the atmosphere, the friendly staff and the laid-back quirkiness of the place that I enjoyed. A few others: L’Arbre a Cannelle, L’Ete en Pente Douce, Juveniles and Les 7 Lezards. I’ll stop there! I so enjoy reading your blog by the way. Have a wonderful time in Paris! Rachel
